What to Expect

When dealing with any pelvic floor issue, we know that it can be both confusing and unnerving. We provide a space for you to ask the questions you want answered and give you the peace of mind your body deserves. We specialize in treatments for both men, women, and children. All of our appointments are an hour long to give you a complete and thorough treatment every time. Feel free to wear any clothes that you are comfortable in. Our treatments can include external and internal exams, depending on your specific plan of care and your specific needs.  We specialize in manual physical therapy and offer various treatments and exercises, ranging from ultrasound to strengthening exercises. We welcome you to schedule an initial exam with our therapist, Dr. Dhara Solanki, so that we can heal together.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How long are the appointments?

All appointments, including your first visit, are an hour long.

2. What kind of treatment should I expect on my first visit?

You will have a combination of a consultation and manual physical therapy. This can involve either an external or internal examination.

3. Do you take my insurance?

Pelvic Health Center of Santa Barbara is currently not contracted with any insurance carriers. What we can provide you with is a super bill for your visits, which you can send to your insurance provider. If you are covered for out-of-network physical therapy benefits, you may be refunded some of your money, but this is not guaranteed.

4. What is the cost per visit?

This will depend on the physical therapist you see. If your appointment is with Dr. Dhara Solanki, the visit will be $250.

5. Will I need to fill out my intake paperwork before my appointment?

Yes, we request that you fill out your paperwork before coming to your first appointment. We ask that you send the completed paperwork to our office two days before your initial appointment. This allows for your pelvic therapist to review your intake documentation before your arrival, assuring that your first visit is as efficient as possible. If you do not complete the paperwork beforehand, we require you to arrive at your first appointment 45 minutes early. We strongly suggest filling out your paperwork before your scheduled visit - this will ensure that your physical therapist is as prepared as possible. The intake paperwork is available for download under the tab 'Intake Paperwork'. It is all online and should take about 20-30 minutes.

6. How many visits will I need?

This is completely dependent on the type of plan of care that your physical therapist will create for you. On average, treatment plans last anywhere between 4 weeks to six months.

7. Do I need a referral?

While it is not required for you to have a referral to be seen, we do like to have one on file. Please ask your GP or any other MD to write you a referral if possible.
